Brampton
Abbotts and St. Michael's Church Ross-on-Wye
The
Village of Brampton Abbotts is located about two miles north
of Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire
by road and St. Michael's Church can be reached either via Brampton
Road, a continuation of Brampton
Street, or by taking a pleasant walk across the fields beginning
at the Dingle, a turning left from Brampton Road. The sunrise
sequence below was photographed on 28 October 2002 at 06:26,
then half an hour later at precisely 06:56 hours GMT. It was
a virtually cloud free morning with Mars, Jupiter and Saturn
clearly visible, along with the waning moon in the south before
dawn. The pretty sky in the photographs is mostly caused by
high flying aircraft vapour trails dispersing in icy wind, so
I was glad of my vacuum flask containing hot tea! The Ordnance
Survey National Grid Reference for St. Michael's is: SO 60096
/ 26401 and, if looking from the church doorway, St.
Mary's, Ross-on-Wye is precisely 1.49 miles distant. Nearby
places include Foy
and Hole-in-the-Wall.
