This new version of the Ross-on-Wye time lapse film was shot in May 2010, although the fast moving after dark scenes in the second part of the film were shot during the summer of 2009.

The Prospect gardens, which were donated to the people of Ross by 17th century philanthropist, John Kyrle (the 'Man of Ross') affords beautiful views and sunsets and these can be seen in the film.

Fireworks are not a regular Saturday evening occurrence in Ross-on-Wye. I was filming the 'from the market house' scene, looking down Broad Street when they started unexpectedly, making me jump, and so I moved camera position quickly to catch them. The occasion was either a wedding taking place or Bilbo Baggins happened to be staying over in town.

You may well wonder about the hedgehog. No they do not sell hedgehogs at Ross Market. I inadvertently forgot to include the 'Hedgehog Rescue' sign in the edit. Maureen, the 'hedgehog lady' showed the hedgehog (which is a Ross mascot and is included on the Mayoral chain) to the camera - not to a hungry crowd.
