The
girls from Ross Phoenix Majorettes returned from the National
Majorette Championship, which was held in Weston Super Mare last
Saturday, 3rd July with a host of awards. The senior team are
now 'Military' and 'Pom-pom' National Champions, the juvenile
team won third place in their military class and there were four
individual awards. In the 'Senior Basic Strut'
category, Hannah Cornwall won first place and Caroline Read won
third. In the 'Solo Mace' category my daughter, Sarah Wood won
first place with Charlotte Jenkins winning second.
As
National Champions, the senior team will now go on to represent
England in the European Championships, to be held in Biel, Switzerland
in October and Ross-on-Wye should be very proud of this group
of dedicated young people, who put in a lot of hard work year
in and year out to provide entertainment at town events and represent
the town elsewhere! Fund-raising has now begun in earnest to fine
the £450.00 per child required.
Ross
Phoenix Majorettes now need to raise a huge amount of money in
a short space of time to enable the girls to take their hard earned
place in the England team travelling to Switzerland. They would
be immensely grateful for any donations towards their target.
Any donations or fund raising ideas may be sent to Tracie Cox
at: 39, Belle Vue Road, Cinderford, GL14 2AA.
