At a time around 10:30 on the evening of Wednesday 25th August,
youths were heard inside an empty ground floor flat in Three
Crosses Road, Ross-on-Wye. An hour later the flat was on fire.
Luckily,
the occupier of the flat above had stayed up to watch the Olympic
games on television, so he was still awake as his own home began
to fill with smoke.
The fire
brigade arrived within minutes of being called and worked until
the early hours of Thursday morning to extinguish the fire and
check that the building was safe and that the owner of the flat
above could re-enter his home.
