On Friday
1st October Ross-on-Wye was visited by a touring French Market.
This brought a vibrant atmosphere to the small area of town
at the top of Broad Street, with crowds of local people thronging
to the Market House where they were able to purchase European
foods, along with artificial flowers and many other items, much
the same as those which are regularly on sale in local shops,
at the Thursday and Saturday markets and at the monthly Farmers'
Market.
The visit
from the French Market, which coincided with the closure of
Greytree Road due to the building of a culvert, closed the top
end of Broad Street to traffic. The way I see it, this increased
tourism in the town by attracting several French traders. It
also helped boost the French economy. Maybe British Markets
should try boosting our economy by touring France - just a thought!
