Local artist
James Pervis of 'Blue Tube Productions' put together an exhibition
with a difference on Saturday in order to raise awareness of
breast cancer. One in nine women suffer from breast cancer and
so James found nine people who volunteered to strip virtually
naked and have their bodies painted. Eight of the volunteers
were painted blue with the ninth, Cilla McCarthy chosen by the
Paul O'Grady Show on ITV painted pink to represent the one in
nine. Filmed by the director of the show, the group were then
set free to roam the streets in Ledbury, Hereford and Ross-on-Wye.
I was invited
to take photographs of the days happenings and travelled in
the minibus with the volunteers and TV crew for the day. Some
of the results can be seen below. The show will be broadcast
on ITV this coming Friday, 12th November at 5 pm. I don't watch
much TV and have never seen the Paul O'Grady show but I believe
he is Lily Savidge in drag. I will have to make a point of watching
this Friday. (Latest info - TV programme delayed by one week.)
