Sadly, during the early hours of Wednesday 10th November 2004, fire broke out in the ancient Rosswyn Hotel. Damage was extensive on the ground floor but fortunately hotelier, Rose Livesey and her residents escaped unhurt. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Showing ghoulish photography of an extremely sad happening such as this is not what Wyenot.com is about but I realize that everybody is wondering about the state of the ancient wooden carvings in the rear bar area, so I have published just one photograph below to give an idea of the resulting damage.

Our sympathy goes out to Rose and her staff and we hope the hotel is able to get back on its feet again very soon.
