The Christmas lights in Ross-on-Wye were switched on at 4:30
pm Saturday, 20th November by Mayor Nigel Gibbs at a ceremony
which also included Deputy Mayor, Gordon Lucas, Margaret Lucas,
Town Clerk, Denise Mason, Peggy Fisher, Jenny Hyide, Rose Frankin
and Phil Cutter.
Gordon Lucas
and Phil Cutter have worked hard installing the lights this
year, their days beginning at 6:00 am in order to get the job
completed. Due to regulations however, strings of lights cannot
be stretched across the street and attached to the market house.
The town's illuminations are much more colourful this year,
which is better for the children. Gordon and Margaret are hoping
to improve the Christmas illuminations from now on by adding
more to the display each year. Within the coming weeks, when
scaffolding has been removed from the couple's motorcycle shop,
Christmas trees will be placed along Brookend Street. Photographs
of Broad Street and Gloucester Road, taken on Sunday evening
can be seen both above and below. I must say that personally
I think this year's display is a vast improvement over the previous
two!

Now
is the time for all good men (and women) . . .
|
'Empty
your glasses, get off your bottoms and clear off home!'
(Not quite how it used to be phrased
but I'm sure you get the gist!)
Before
you do that however . . .
Why
not spend the evening meeting old Potters Bar friends in the original
'Potters Bar' building for a
Potters
Bar Reunion
Conservatory
- Hope & Anchor
Original
Potters Bar Music - recordings of the original
juke box records!
At
least one original barman - less hair than in those
days but will wear a hat to hide it!
Even those who were under age are welcome
- You must be old enough by now!
Saturday
27th November 2004 - 8:00 pm until 11:10 PRECISELY!!!
(Not overly serious about that last bit.)
Pink
Floyd, Hawkwind, John Cleese, The Eagles, Steely Dan, Queen, Mott
the Hoople, Bob Marley,
Jimmy Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Squeeze, Eric Clapton,
The Who, Pretenders, Genesis . . .
