Hope
& Anchor Potters Bar Reunion - Like stepping into a time warp!
|
| |
This week's edition of 'Wyenot News' contains just one article,
spread over several pages - the Potters Bar Reunion.
Thank
you, thank you, thank you all for coming!!! I was nervous
all week that nobody would turn up but I am still stunned by
the huge turnout, which proved beyond any shadow of a doubt
that the spirit of the seventies lives on. Thank you also, Ben
and Will for providing food, Babycham, Maraschino cherries and
allowing me to take over your fantastic restaurant for a night
to re-enact the building's past!
To
be absolutely honest - for once on this web site I am lost for
words, so will use photographs only, and pass on just one of
the nice comments of the evening.

Towards
the end of the evening, a lady approached me and said, 'Thank
you so much - if I die tonight, I will die happy.'
If you would
like to, we could make this into an annual event for the last
Saturday of every November.
With 'Going
Steady' by Jilted John, the last record of the evening still
ringing in my ears, over to the photographs. They are spread
over thirteen pages for ease of download for those using dialup
and they run more or less in chronological order. If I have
any names captioned incorrectly, please let me know - it all
happened 20 years and more ago and I didn't have time to take
notes!

There
was a 'Book of Remembrance' at the venue to sign but, as the building
became crowded, it was hidden from view. A few signed on the night
and some the next day but, if you are passing the Hope & Anchor
and would like to sign, the book is still available in the Potters
Bar - oops, I mean The Conservatory.
