A rare opportunity to take a photograph from an unusual angle. The Royal Hotel, photographed from the battlements of Wilton Castle, using a telephoto lens on Thursday 24th February 2005.

Wild Iris aka fleur-de-lis: Although not exactly a stunning photograph, I photographed this rare wild iris at Wilton on Thursday, 24th February.

I am not currently certain how rare it is as I cannot find this particular iris in my 'Collins book of Wild Flowers'. I am certainly surprised to see it flowering in February. The plants were laying horizontally, as if flattened by the rain.

I intend to keep an eye on this one to see how it develops.
