Ross-on-Wye Toy Library

An open tea party was held at the Ryefield Centre Toy Library on Thursday, 10th March to help launch the library's new catalogue. 'Home Start', who work in Herefordshire with families experiencing stress or other difficulties, recently took over the running of the Toy Library, which was initially run by the WRVS, and would like to make people aware of its existence and generally raise the library's profile.

The Toy Library is housed in the Ryefield Centre and is open every Thursday afternoon, including the school holidays. Toys can be hired for a fee of around £0.25 per week.

For more information, please call 'Home Start' on 01432 371212.

Pictured left are David Williams - Chairman of Home Start, Nigel Gibbs - Mayor of Ross-on-Wye with Celia Fulford and her three children, Lydia, Molly and Edith Fullford-Knibbs at Thursday's tea party.

Topical Photography This Week - Around the Schools on Comic Relief Day - Part One

On Friday, 11th March 2005, it was Comic Relief 'Red Nose' Day and I took a tour of some of the local schools to photograph the various fund raising activities going on.

Above: The Ross Pre School Playgroup children are pictured with teachers and helpers Sally Sandford, Vicki Page, Michelle Gwilliam and Pauline Williams.

Below: Goodrich School classes: Class 1 (Reception), Class 4 (Years 5 and 6) with Head Teacher, Tony Griffiths and Parent Helper Annie Lancaster, who cooked red nose cakes for the children. Below that is Class 2 (Years 1 and 2) with Head Teacher, Tony Griffiths.

Bottom: Various pupils at Bridstow Primary School, where National Book Day was combined with Comic Relief Day. The pupils are pictured with Katherine Holly, Vicki Page, Lydia Weaver and Head Teacher, Paul Sockett.
