In the 5th April edition of Wyenot News, I published a rather distant shot of a Mandarin duck, Aix galericulata. Last Thursday, 5th May I managed to catch a closer shot of the River Wye visitor. Above, the male Mandarin can be seen sitting on the canoe launch by the Hope & Anchor and below, swimming with his female partner.

Judging by the cars in the background, I would guess that this photograph of the Ross Regatta was taken some time during the 1960s. I have no other information I am afraid and the image is of a rather low resolution, so it will not magnify enough to identify individuals. The houses in the background are Homs Villas, Brixton and Prospect Terrace.

As mentioned in previous editions of 'Archive Ross,' John Kyrle High School will be celebrating its twenty fifth birthday this year and to mark the occasion, there will be a 'Silver Jubilee Ball' at the school on Saturday, June 11th
. In addition to a three course meal, there will be dancing to live music from the excellent band, 'Joint Venture.' There will also be a disco and licensed bar. It is hoped to bring together, present and past staff, ex-pupils, (1980 to 2005) parents, governors and all friends of the school.

Continuing with the theme of old JKHS class photographs in the 'Archive Ross' section of Wyenot News, this week's photo is of Tutor Group 1 H of 1983.

If you recognize yourself in the photograph (or previously published photographs) and would like to attend the function, which promises to be a great evening of entertainment, tickets are available from Kate Nicholls at the school.

For further information on this event, you are welcome to contact the following:
