When
I left school, back in the stone-age, we just used to
get all the other kids and the teachers to chisel their
signatures into our 'Highroads Dictionary' (stone tablet
edition) and then it was goodbye and we'd be off into
the wide world to fend for ourselves, hunting woolly mammoth!
Things have changed over the millennia however and it
is nice to see that in 2005, school leavers have learned
to say 'goodbye' in style.
This
year's leavers from John Kyrle High School held their
Leavers' Ball on Thursday, 12th May. Arriving at the Chase
Hotel in big limousines, even bigger limousines and in
one instance, a Ferrari the young people emerged from
their carriages like film stars and looking every bit
the part. Dinner was followed by an evening of entertainment
provided by Nigel Gaudion and his disco and no doubt,
parties lasting well into daylight hours the following
day.
Wyenot
News would like to wish all JKHS school leavers a successful
future and from a personal point of view, I still have
that 'Highroads Dictionary' and it is now among my most
treasured possessions, so keep those signed polo shirts
somewhere safe!
