Topical Photography This Week

Above: Congratulations to Ruth Haines, who retired on Thursday, 2nd June after spending fifty years as District Nurse. The photograph of Jean Daw, Fiona Deakin, John Haines, Annette Embrey, Ruth Haines, Jan Vallely and Danny Hall was taken at her retirement party, which took place at Fownhope Village Hall.

Below: The Farmers Market in Ross. A lack of local interest in this traditional monthly event has been noted by some. Tell me about it! This is Ross-on-Wye, after all and it's not only the Farmers' Market which suffers from this problem!

Bottom: Ben and Zena, who recently married at The Old Blacksmith's Shop, Gretna Green, at their wedding celebration which took place on Sunday last at the Hope & Anchor. Tina, who worked the bar for the evening, is also in the photograph.

JKHS Reunion Summer Ball

Another archive John Kyrle High School photo this week leading up to the Summer Reunion Ball at JKHS: the 'JKHS Jogglers', with Paul Wheatley at St. Mary's Church. The 'Jogglers' (staff and pupils of the school) having run from Lambeth Palace to Ross as a relay team, back in 1986.

2005 is the 25th birthday of John Kyrle High School. To celebrate, there will be a Jubilee Summer Ball at the school on Saturday 11th June. This will be a reunion for past students, present and past staff and parents, and for everyone in the Ross-on-Wye community who has been involved in the life of the school over the past 25 years.

Tickets are £25 and are on sale now from the school (01989 764358) and include:

  • Champagne and Canapés Reception.
