A
Rhubarb Tart has fascinated all the poets.
Especially
the immortal bard;
Even Richard III called out on Bosworth Field,
'MY KINGDOM FOR A SLICE OF RHUBARB TART!'
Last year the Potters Bar Requiem Mass (partaking of alcoholic
fluids) was a great success with at least 150 old Potters
Bar frequenters turning up for the occasion! The music
was loud, the beer, 'like making love in a punt' (you
know - close to water) but you all drank enough of it
and it worked just the same. The usual crowd gathered
around the football table and others brought along old
photograph albums whilst we all enjoyed the music of Pink
Floyd, Mott the Hoople, Hawkwind, The Bonzo Dog Band and
John Cleese, to name but a few, at true Potters Bar volume.
Everybody had a fantastic time!
The
clay pots had gone and the men's toilet had been moved
from 'outside, turn right, behind the hedge' to up stairs,
where the flat used to be but even that had it's moments.
'I'm peeing in Irene's bedroom,' said Andy, as we met
whilst making room for more beer.
'You
arranged all this for me!' Exclaimed Po, whose birthday
coincidentally fell on the same day. 'Yes, we did,' he
lied, 'and were doing it again in 2005.'
Po's
birthday party will take place in the old Potters Bar
on Saturday 26th November at 8:00 pm!
Whether
you used to frequent Ross-on-Wye's most famous (or should
that be infamous) venue or whether you are the son, daughter,
nephew or niece of an old Potters Bar frequenter and would
like to discover what your parents, aunts and uncles really
got up to back in the days when a 'mobile' was a thing
you hung above a baby's cot, leave the horseless conveyance
at home and come along on Saturday, 26th November.
