At
their Annual Genearl Meeting, Ross Action Committee were
thrilled to be presented with a cheque by Mr. Nigel Mummery,
owner of ABT Products Ltd.
After
a good year, Mr. Mummery had decided that some of the
success of this locally based company should be shared
by two local voluntary, charitable organizations, one
of which was the W.R.V.S and the other, Ross Action Committee.
Mr.
David Rose, Action Committee Chairman, said that this
generous gesture by Mr. Mummery and ABT to a long standing
community project was a fantastic Christmas present and
was very much appreciated. Mr. Rose said that the Action
Committee, which is composed of representatives of all
the voluntary organizations of the town, has depended,
since the "Action Bus" started its service to
the elderly, blind and disabled of the area in 1971, on
voluntary support, donations and fund-raising in order
to continue. The people of Ross have never allowed the
service to stop.
Mr.
Rose recalled that he had said at the conclusion of the
previous meeting, how encouraging it was to have such
a marvellous cross-section of the town's activities represented.
The
presentation of this cheque from ABT marks a further milestone
for the Action Committee in receiving support from local
industry, not just in terms of the donation but in its
recognition and appreciation of the service the Action
Bus provides.
