The annual match between the older and younger generation players at Ross RFC took place on a bitterly cold and slightly damp Boxing Day.

I have to admit that, feeling a little chilly on the day, I took a few photos of this year's match and then went to catch Dan and Gareth at the Hope & Anchor, where I drank coffee (honest). As the match report has not yet arrived I can only show the photos. The match report will be published next week. In the mean time, I will republish that fantastic last paragraph from the promotional article sent in two weeks ago. It just about says it all and I still laugh every time I think about it . . .

'The traditional Ross Over’s and Under’s Boxing day match will be going ahead with many of the youngsters being considerably younger than the older members who used to be younger not withstanding the older age limit for the game has become younger following an increase in the amount of younger players in the older age group.'

It was a busy lunchtime at the Hope & Anchor on Boxing Day. After the activity on Christmas Day, many people wanted to enjoy a meal that they didn't have to cook and just relax whilst listening to the sound of Dan James and Gareth Hall with their unique blend of excellent folk and jazz music.

Dan, pictured playing his mandocello is very well known locally as being one half of the popular folk duo Miln and James, but he also performs with Gareth Hall's jazz band occasionally, playing some very fine jazz guitar, complementing Gareth's excellent piano playing.

Everybody there commented on how much they enjoyed the entertainment, asking when the talented duo were going to be performing next.
