The Summer Sounds Spectacular series of outdoor concerts
arrived in Ross on Wye over the August Bank holiday and
performed three very different concerts over the long weekend.
Saturday night saw the fantastic Blues Brothers tribute
show 'Sweet Home Chicago take to the stage for over two
hours of great live music. The audience were on their feet
from the time that Jake & Elwood took to the stage until
the stunning firework finale.
The
pace slowed down for Sundays concert which featured the
Glenn Miller Tribute orchestra under the musical direction
of Paul Barry. The audience expressed their delight when
the members of the band left the stage to walk around them
playing live during one of the numbers. Sunrise Seranaders
joined the band on stage throughout the evening with their
own interpretation of the Andrews Sisters. Again a fantastic
firework finale closed the evening.
Bank
holiday Monday saw a much smaller audience than expected
turn out for the final concert - The Kings of Swing tribute
to the Rat Pack. Despite very heavy rain earlier in the
concert the audience bravely stayed to witness a really
excellent evening of Swing Bands classics.
A
spokesperson for Stage Electrics said 'This was our first
visit to Ross on Wye and we would hope that we will come
again next year. We would like to increase the attendance
figures, as we were a little disappointed in the numbers
we attracted this year. The audience size may have been
small but the welcome and support given was absolutely superb.
Waterside was one of the nicest and picturesque locations
we performed at around the South West this summer - Ross
on Wye is lucky to have such a facility.' Stage
Electrics is based in Bristol and is a major supplier of
lighting and sound to the stage and conference market.
Saturday
evening's show kicked off a great weekend of entertainment
with a brilliant 'Blues Brothers Party', courtesy of the
'Sweet Home Chicago Theatre Show'.
