The Witches of Ross-on-Wye

With Hallowe'en fast approaching, armed only with a camera and notepad, I thought I would take a trip down town on Saturday evening to see if there were any strange or spooky goings on taking place in the dark alleys and in the back streets of Ross. As it happens, nothing out of the ordinary was going on. It was just like any other day in town, as can be seen from the pictures below.
(That's me in trouble with Tina again - going out and photographing two men and sixteen women.)

In the shadows of Brookend Street I came across Gemma, Shelly, Billy, Suzie, T, Graham, Hazel and Carly. Ref: DSC_7879

In The Barrel , the staff were bewitching. Ref: DSC_7876

In JDs Bar, Di's Devils - Kate, Sophie, Emma, Emma, Jessica and Leanne. Ref: DSC_7891

In Broad Street, Hannah and Jo. Ref: DSC_7895

Highnam FC Tour ABT

ABT Products gave the Highnam under 9 Football Team a tour of their factory on Tuesday. This young football club was only formed 3 years ago and has grown significantly from 12 to the present 25 members. Melvyn Taylor, who is a long serving employee of ABT, is the joint manager of the team with Dave Webb. Melvyn has enthusiastically supported and developed the team. ABT have provided them with smart blue kit and various items of training equipment.

The team play in the Gloucester Mini League where they have not lost a game this year. Nigel Mummery, Managing Director of ABT, said 'We gave the team a tour of our facilities and buffet lunch as a reward for their efforts and hard work. Although they nearly all wanted to choose a career in football, we hoped that we might encourage one or two to consider the more exciting world of manufacturing!'.

Quiz for Macmillan

Ross Macmillan Cancer Support Group recently held a quiz night at the Conservative Club in Ross which raised 130. They also had a collection at the Belmont Tescos which raised a further 1330 and received a generous donation of 400 from the FWC's lunch event. Once again the committee is indebted to all who supported Macmillan in any way.

Due to unforeseen circumstances there will not be a November Quiz but Wednesday December 6th will be the Christmas Quiz night which will be very seasonable.
