Cinderella Goes to the Ball at Sellack Village Hall
|
|
Sellack and Kings Caple Players put on a fine production
of the pantomime Cinderella on Friday, 2nd and Saturday,
3rd March in Sellack Village Hall. At one time the players
regularly held events like this, but they took a break for
about three years. Now they are back and they had such fun
that they are already planning next year's pantomime
To
their delight, ticket sales far exceeded their expectations
and the profits from these are to be shared between Sellack
Village Hall and the County Air Ambulance.
I
went along to take a photograph before Friday's performance.
In the front row, from left to right are: Alan Ripley, fairy,
Janet Barnfield, Splashit and John Haines as Baron Hardup.
In the back row are Ugly Sisters Gareth Barnfield and Matt
Ripley, Prince Charming - Sue Lewis, the Page - Rose Kibble
and Dandini, played by Angela Williams.

Nature
Watch
|
|
This particular swan and its mate have been swimming around
the Wilton area for months now. I am not sure but I think
it may have broken its leg at some stage - either that or
it is a practising contortionist. It seems happy though
and always, without fail, swims up close to greet me when
I walk by the river with my camera, so I don't think it
can be in any pain.

Rain
Clouds
|
|
We have seen a lot of rain cloud here in Ross-on-Wye over
the past week or so. Saturday was more a day of showers
and hazy sunshine though, which left reasonable but not
absolutely perfect viewing opportunities for the night time
lunar eclipse. There was considerable atmospheric haze.
I thought the cloud below, which I noticed whilst walking
the dog on Saturday afternoon made quite a good photo. I
could have tarted it up a bit by brightening Wilton Bridge
itself but decided against doing so as it gives an eerie
feel to the picture.
Judging
by the way it has rained for the past two days, I suspect
some quite heavy flooding will follow. The first few hours
of today (Monday) were sunny but the rain has been constant
and heavy since mid morning. Sunday was pretty much heavy
rain all day.
