A
decade at the Heritage Centre
|

Ross
Heritage Centre is celebrating 10 years of exhibitions and
events on 14th April 2007. To mark this very special occasion,
the centre are putting on various displays to cover a selection
of the nearly 100 exhibitions they have held during that
time.
The
exhibition opened on Tuesday 13th March and will run until
Tuesday 8th May. To mark the actual anniversary of opening
the doors to the public and to give people of all ages the
chance to have a good look at the exhibition, there will
be an open house with tea and coffee on Saturday 14th April
from 10.30am to 12pm. It is hoped as many people as possible
will be able to come along to discuss their favourite exhibitions
from the past, as well as what they would like to see in
the future.
It will also be the 50th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen
Elizabeth's visit to Ross-on-Wye on 24th April. There is
currently a special display of the photographs that were
taken on that historic day. Pictured below, Mary and Sue
hold the original Heritage Centre plaque commemorating the
royal visit.

Students on the Isle of Aran
|
|
A
group of sixth form students from the John Kyrle High School
recently went on a week long biology field trip to the Isle
of Aran. The students were studying marine life around the
island and they were given variety of tasks to complete
including measuring limpets and seaweed.
One
of the students, Kirsty Priest very kindly took one of our
cameras along to take some photographs for us and a fuller
report on the trip will be published in next week's issue
of Wyenot News. Thank you Kirsty.

Andy
M at The Prince of Wales
|
|
Andy
M provided Saturday evening's entertainment at The Prince
of Wales. Andy sang a whole range of covers, from the Dean
Martin era right through to the Kaiser Chiefs and went down
very well with the audience.

This
coming Saturday, 7th April The Zebras will be performing
at the Prince of Wales. We are really looking forward to
it. I can't remember if I've mentioned them before, but
they are a really great band and I will definitely be leaving
the car at home on Saturday!
