Millie
is the 2007 Carnival Princess!
|
|
The
new 2007 Carnival Princess was chosen at the Larruperz Centre
on a very wet Sunday afternoon and Millie White was chosen
to take on the role by judges, Gordon and Margaret Lucas
and Lynne Tomlinson. Millie's attendants will be Susan Yaldiz
(left) and Corvey White (right).
All
of the entrants will be taking part on the Carnival Princess
float on Carnival day, which takes place this year on Saturday,
4th August.

Absinthe
at the Prince of Wales
|
|
There
were not that many people in to watch Absinthe at the Prince
of Wales last Saturday, which is a real shame
because most people who did go thought that Absinthe were
one of the better bands to have performed at the venue.
The
young trio did make a few mistakes but on the whole I thought
they were brilliant! A lot of the music they played was
stuff I personally enjoy - including some Rory Gallagher
tracks, which reminded me of my younger days, when Rory
used to play the Dagenham Roundhouse.
It
was a quiet weekend around town in general last Saturday
but those who missed Absinthe missed a great evening. There
will be another chance to see in the near future. 'We definitely
need to book them back,' said a very happy landlord and
landlady, Jay and Amanda! I'll go along with that.

Penyard
Singers Concert for Macmillan
|
|
The
Penyard Singers and the Penyard Chamber Orchestra held a
spring concert in aid of the Macmillan Renton Appeal on
Saturday, 28th April, which spanned thirteen years of the
classical period, from 1802 to 1815. The
musical director was Tony Washington.
The
singers and orchestra provided a most enjoyable evening
of a varied programme to suit all tastes. a mixed voice
chamber choir providing an opportunity for people of any
age and experience to sing together.
All
concerts are for charity or community projects and on Thursday,
10th May, a cheque for £500 was handed to Mrs. Joyce
Thomas MBE DL at Ross Heritage Centre. Mrs. Thomas is Patron
of Macmillan in Ross-on-Wye.

Meet
the Conservative members of Ross Town Council
|
|
Last
week I published a photograph of the Liberal Democrat members
of Ross Town Council. At the time I had not had the opportunity
to photograph the Conservative members but that opportunity
arose on Monday evening at the Mayor Making Ceremony.
To
redress the balance, pictured left to right are Conservative
Councillors Harry Bramer, Phil Cutter, Jenny Hyde, Gordon
Lucas and David Ravenscroft. Please
note that 'Wyenot News' does not favour any one political
party.
