Toby's
Ensemble opened the Broome Farm Blues Party last Wednesday.
Being late arriving, I only managed to catch their last
two numbers but it was plainly obvious that the band had
been extremely well received. The audience were yelling
for more at the end, but the foursome could not continue
as the stage had to be cleared for the great Kent Duchaine.
I
have spoken Toby on a number of occasions, in the White
Lion and away from the public eye and he is the most quiet
and unassuming person one could ever hope to meet. Seeing
him perform on Wednesday, it just did not seem that he could
possibly be the same person. His performance was brilliant!
(Not that his normal personality is not brilliant also -
it's just so totally different.)
The
band had formed specifically for the blues party and had
only practised four times before the event, which made the
performance all the more remarkable, as can be seen from
the video. St.John Millinczuk was great on bass, Adam Daffurn
on drums and Remi on guitar made for one of the best blues
bands I have seen in years.
Well
done to all of you!
