ROSS CARNIVAL WILL GO AHEAD AS PLANNED!
|
|
Ross Town Carnival 2007 will go ahead as planned this coming
Saturday, despite rumours that it was going to be cancelled.
The bigger than ever procession will make its way through
the town and down to the riverside as usual. However, due
to the recent flooding the rest of the carnival activities
will be sited at Wilton Road car park.
On
Monday, Ross Fire Brigade operated a flooding exercise down
on the river bank, pumping 600 gallons of flood water an
hour back into the river Wye. The Fire Brigade always take
an active part in Ross Carnival and were only too happy
to see if they could help the event take place on the usual
site. After a site meeting with Herefordshire Council, however
and due to and some of the water seeping back onto the site
by the evening it was decided to use the alternative venue
for this year's event.
Although
disappointed at not being able to hold the carnival on the
river bank, Carnival Chairman, Mel Hodges and the rest of
the Carnival Committee have put public safety and comfort
first and promise a great day out for all the family at
Wilton car park. We look forward to seeing you there.

Monday

This short film shows Ross firemen pumping floodwater from
the Carnival Field on Monday afternoon. With the smell of
stagnant water in the air and much water remaining though,
the Carnival venue has had to be changed. The event will
now take place in Wilton Car Park.

THE
WYENOT NEWS DEADLINE
|
|
The
absolute deadline for Wyenot News stories and other items
is 12:00, midday on Tuesday, for inclusion in the following
day's edition.
PLEASE
NOTE HOWEVER:
This is an absolute deadline and not the time
I am asking for articles to be sent in. Mondays and Tuesdays
here at 'Wyenot News' are Hell with by far, the most events
I cover occurring at the weekend. The photography that the
public sees happening is only one tiny part of the whole
picture (please excuse the pun) of running this weekly news
publication and the bits of prep that people do not see,
are actually the most time consuming part of getting the
story out.
If
at all possible, please send your story in as early as you
can, rather than wait until the very last minute, so that
I can have at least a fighting chance of getting to bed
before 3:00 am every Tuesday and Wednesday morning after
what has lately become two 18 hour working days on the trot.
Thank
you very much for your understanding and help.
Alan
