Nature Watch: Geese, a baby swallow and a baby hedgehog
|
|
It has been a busy week this week but I have tried to escape
for a few hours on a couple of occasions, sitting by the
River Wye at Backney. I did manage to capture quite an amazing
movie film of a kingfisher fishing, but I am hanging on
to that one for the time being - for a local DVD I am producing.
Whilst
at the location, I took the photos below of Canadian Geese
gathering and of the sky. The
baby hedgehog was taken in my own garden on Monday evening.
The photo does nothing to show its size. It was tiny. The
swallow in the bottom photo is one of the new hatchlings
I have been following at the White Lion. Having fledged
a couple of weeks ago now, it keeps returning to the perch
near its nest, still gaping occasionally, expecting food
to be delivered.

Three
year old boy injured by a car in Camp Road
|
|
While
most of the town were lining up to watch the Carnival on
Saturday, a three year old boy was involved in a nasty accident
in Camp Road, at its junction with Alton Road.
The
collision involved the young boy and a blue Volvo V70 estate
car. The child suffered a head injury and suspected broken
leg and was taken by air ambulance (which landed at John
Kyrle High School) to Frenchay Hospital in Bristol for treatment
to his injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.
Camp
Road was temporarily closed between Alton Road and Kent
Avenue while police began an investigation into the collision.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed
the accident. They are asked to contact PC Colin Kerfoot
at the Hereford Roads Policing Unit on 08457 444888.
