On Thursday, 30th August Ross Library is hosting a 'Glitterbugs'
activity session from 10:30am until 11:30 am for children
aged between 4 and 12 years.
Tickets for this event cost £1 and can be obtained
by telephoning Ross Library on 01432 383280. Please note
that children under the age of five must be accompanied
by a parent or carer.
Solo
artiste Paul Detheridge will providing the entertainment
at the Hope
& Anchor on Friday, 31st August. His performance
will begin at approximately 8:30pm.
Broome
Farm Cider Festival begins on Friday, 31st August and
runs until Sunday 2nd September. This great annual event
is growing increasingly popular as there is always fantastic
food, a great bar and brilliant music throughout the festival.
On
Friday, there will be a Grand Ceilidh with popular band
'The Poachers' calling the dances. A Ceilidh is always great
fun and tickets for this one are just £5.
Saturday
at Broome Farm gives you the chance to meet the cider makers
and find out all about different ciders and their producers.
There is some brilliant musical entertainment going on throughout
the day. From 12 Noon until 3 pm there will be an informal
acoustic music session, followed by 'Double Barrel' a popular
local covers band. Fine folkers, Pete Miln and Dan James
will also be performing at the festival. I am quite a fan
of theirs and am quite looking forward to seeing them again.
Later on 'Penal O Colony will be entertaining, after which
the Supreme Awesome Dudes will delight with their brand
of acoustic roots music. Tickets for Saturday are £5
between 12 Noon and 6 pm or 5 pm and 11pm and £7.50
for all day.
The
entertainment at The
Prince of Wales on Saturday will be provided by talented
duo 'Trial By Fire' who have a terrific range of music covers,
including some Pink Floyd. They will play from 9pm.
Back
to Broome Farm on Sunday for the Farmers' Market and yet
even more great musical entertainment, this time provided
by the fantastic John Smith Band. Admission to Sunday's
event is free.
Weekend
tickets to Broome Farm's Cider Festival are available and
there are camping facilities so you need not leave until
