Ross
Cider and Music Festival on Sunday
|
|
The
Farmers' Market took place on Sunday, with stalls selling
produce and other products, such as jewellery while various
musicians performed, the day's events culminating is a stunning
performance by female vocalist/guitarist, Louise Richardson.
Louise has a beautiful voice and I recorded two songs, which
can be seen and heard at the end of the film.
I
don't know if you saw the excellent BBC 'Natural World'
programme about the Cider Producer, Bee Keeper, Gillie and
Sheep Farmer in the Wye Valley a few months ago? Mike from
Ross
Cider starred as the cider producer in that amazing
documentary. I have known Mike for a long while but at the
festival, I was introduced to Gareth Baker, the Beekeeper
from the film and he showed me some of his bees as he sold
his home produced honey and candles on his stall.
Gareth
suggested that next spring, we meet up so that I can take
photos as he begins the season and run an article about
his life as a beekeeper in the Wye Valley in Wyenot News.
I'm looking forward to that one - it sounds like a great
lifestyle.
Below
are some photographs of Sunday at the festival. Next year,
Tina and I are definitely going to camp at the farm and
spend the whole weekend enjoying the three day event to
the full.

What's Happening in Ross This Week?
|
|
The excellent Double Barrel will be performing at The
White Lion, Wilton on Saturday 8th September. This popular
band have a great range of covers, catering to all tastes.
Why not go along to this lovely riverside inn and see for
yourself?.
There
is quite a diverse choice of entertainment taking place
on Saturday, actually For instance:
If
you like a little adult humour, 'Country Yokel' (similar
in Style to 'Jethro') will be performing at Ross Conservative
Club. Tickets for this event cost £10 and include
a buffet and disco. The entertainment here starts at 7.30
pm.
Andy
M (not Margrett) will be performing a range of covers through
the ages at the Prince
of Wales from 9 pm, but if you like 'a cracking slice
of quintessential, psychedelic indie' (NME) The Dandelion
Killers will be playing at The
Barrel in Brookend Street.
Don't
forget the fun family day out in the Caroline Symonds Gardens
on Sunday 9th. Ross Town Carnival Committee have arranged
for some of the events that had to be postponed on Carnival
Day due to the flooding, to take place now and include a
companion dog show, inflatables, stalls, burger man, ice
cream man and much more. Hope to see you there.
Have
a good week.

THE
WYENOT NEWS DEADLINE
|
|
The
absolute deadline for Wyenot News stories and other items
is 12:00, midday on Tuesday, for inclusion in the following
day's edition.
PLEASE
NOTE HOWEVER:
This is an absolute deadline and not the time
I am asking for articles to be sent in. Mondays and Tuesdays
here at 'Wyenot News' are Hell with by far, the most events
I cover occurring at the weekend. The photography that the
public sees happening is only one tiny part of the whole
picture (please excuse the pun) of running this weekly news
publication and the bits of prep that people do not see,
are actually the most time consuming part of getting the
story out.
If
at all possible, please send your story in as early as you
can, rather than wait until the very last minute, so that
I can have at least a fighting chance of getting to bed
before 3:00 am every Tuesday and Wednesday morning after
what has lately become two 18 hour working days on the trot.
Thank
you very much for your understanding and help.
Alan
