Work begins on the Ross Flood Alleviation Scheme

It may have seemed an ordinary Friday to most but last Friday, 28th September was a very special day for Ross-on-Wye and its residents. Work on the long awaited flood alleviation scheme has finally begun, which will bring great relief in particular to traders who have frequently been affected by Rudhall Brook flash flooding and gushing its excess into there business premises.

Herefordshire Councillors Brian Wilcox and Martin Jackson met with Site Agent, Wayne Musa and his team at Homs Road car park to talk to the media about the work involved and to watch the start of this long awaited moment.

The contractors have been very approachable, freely giving information and will be working in as an environmentally friendly manner as possible whilst getting the necessary work done. They are even arranging an open day for schools. There are two main reasons for this. One is to show the children the work in progress, explaining what is happening and why; the other is to make them aware of how dangerous it could be to visit the site 'unofficially.'

Further information on the scheme will appear in next week's issue of Wyenot News..

This year's show features a brand new selection of favourite numbers, from a host of award winning and well-loved musicals.
