A
number of people have telephoned and asked, or asked me
in the street since the weekend, 'Do you know anything about
the stabbing which took place in Gloucester Road on Saturday?'
Some have even enquired about 'the murder'.
Wyenot
News had not heard anything about it but just to put the
records straight, today, Tuesday I asked the Police Press
Officer, Neil Tipton if he had any information. There are
no police logs of a stabbing in Ross on Saturday, though
there was some blood in Gloucester Road, which needed to
be cleaned up and this has sparked some rumours.
Ross
Police are investigating an assault which took place
in Gloucester Road in the early hours of Saturday morning,
in which a man received facial injuries. Police attended
and the man was also seen by an ambulance crew before being
taken to the County Hospital for treatment. He was discharged
later in the morning.
It
is believed the assault followed an altercation involving
a group of people in the town centre and police are continuing
their enquiries.

A
Joint Family Birthday Celebration in Clifton
|
|
I
do realize that this is not really local news. It is more
a personal thing but I have published here for my own family,
scattered around the world, so they can see how we are all
looking as a family.
October
is the busy birthday month for my family (and friends).
Both my daughter Sarah and I were born on 1st October. I
don't know about myself but Sarah can definitely blame her
existence on Bernice and I drinking brandy on New Year's
Eve 1989/90 - not the slightest shadow of a doubt about
that! I guess similar can be said for many an October baby.
Sarah's boyfriend James' birthday falls on 13th October
and my eldest son, Matt's birthday falls on 16th October.
Sarah
was in Slovenia with the Majorettes on her day, so we decided
to wait for her return before celebrating, getting the birthday
stuff for all of us out of the way in one evening. We went
for a meal at 'Tequila Max' in Clifton. A long way to go
for a meal, I know but James has just bought a new car and
I guess this is what decided the venue. I just went along
with the idea, and drove the second car.
As
you can see, we all had a nice evening. With Clifton being
a student town, the music in 'Tequila Max' was deafeningly
loud and the food extremely expensive but it was nice. I
would go there again - but with earplugs!
It
was nice to go out again as a family - we don't often get
the opportunity. Happy birthday to Sarah, James and Matt!

Daylight
Robbery in Cawdor
|
|
Jewellery and electrical goods were amongst items stolen
during a burglary at a house in Cawdor Hill in Ross-on-Wye.
The burglary took place on Monday 8th October between 8am
and 4pm.
A
forced entry was made and once inside, the intruder made
a search of various rooms, taking a flat screen television,
jewellery, bottles of aftershave and perfume, together with
a camera and a variety of smaller items.
Police
are keen to hear of any suspicious activity seen or heard
in the area that day.
They
are asked to contact PC Vanessa Adams at Ledbury Police
Station on 08457 444888, quoting ref: 450-s-081007.

THE
WYENOT NEWS DEADLINE
|
|
The
absolute deadline for Wyenot News stories and other items
is 12:00, midday on Tuesday, for inclusion in the following
day's edition.
PLEASE
NOTE HOWEVER:
This is an absolute deadline and not the time
I am asking for articles to be sent in. Mondays and Tuesdays
here at 'Wyenot News' are Hell with by far, the most events
I cover occurring at the weekend. The photography that the
public sees happening is only one tiny part of the whole
picture (please excuse the pun) of running this weekly news
publication and the bits of prep that people do not see,
are actually the most time consuming part of getting the
story out.
If
at all possible, please send your story in as early as you
can, rather than wait until the very last minute, so that
I can have at least a fighting chance of getting to bed
before 3:00 am every Tuesday and Wednesday morning after
what has lately become two 18 hour working days on the trot.
Thank
you very much for your understanding and help.
Alan
