Being
crafty at the Chase Hotel
|
|
The
Chase Hotel played host to a fantastic craft fair on Sunday,
giving visitors the opportunity to buy high quality, hand
crafted Christmas gifts direct from the makers themselves.
There
were many beautiful items for sale, including hand made
cards and teddy bears, silk scarves, shawls and hand turned
wooden bowls. Many of the gifts are not generally available
in the high street stores.
Crafts
people came along from various places, selling their wares
at good prices. Some of them were very local to Ross. Gerald
Howarth of Llangrove began his wood turning career 5 years
ago, after he had retired and has produced some truly excellent
bowls and other wooden utensils. Nina Price of Leys Hill
was also present with her great range of beautifully painted
silk scarves and cards.
Pictured
below are just a few of the traders at Sunday's event, some
local and some from further afield. Craft Fairs are quite
a regular event at the Chase and at present there are two
dates for your diary, Sunday, 28th September and Sunday,
26th October 2008.

A
Special Fashion Show in Aid of Macmillan
|
|
A
special fashion show featuring some well known local models
was held at the Larruperz Centre on Friday evening, to raise
funds for the Macmillan Renton Appeal. Pam Pritchard, Chairman
of Ross Floral Society and Jacqui Miller, Manager of County
Casuals came up with the idea of a fashion show to raise
money for the Macmillan Appeal and at the same time, raise
the profiles of both the fashion store and the floral society.
Ross
Garden Store kindly supplied flowers, which were beautifully
arranged and enhanced the setting.
Rhona
Kiernan of County Casuals compered the evening in a rather
stunning black evening dress and should perhaps have been
on the catwalk herself, along with the rest of the models
as they paraded up and down the hall in some stunning outfits.
The
evening proved a great success and top local model, Mrs.
Joyce Thomas, MBE-DL had a lot of fun helping the Macmillan
Renton Appeal of which she is Patron, as did the rest of
the glamorous participants: Veronica Irwin, Emily Parsons,
Jennie Callway, Charmagne Berry, Jackie Alcock, Jacqueline
Miller, Phin Parsons and Andy Clark.
