New Childrens' Centre for Ross-on-Wye

A new childrens' centre was opened last Wednesday at The Ryefield Centre, Ross-on-Wye.

Councillor Jenny Hyde, Herefordshire Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Young People performed the opening ceremony and said she was delighted with this new facility for families with young children. Ross Mayor, Councillor, Derek Bedford also attended the opening, when lots of fun and games were to be had by all. Santa put in an appearance and the Whitchurch Primary School Performance Choir kept people entertained with a selection of beautifully sung Christmas songs. Further coverage of this event can be seen on this week's edition of WNTV News.

Stop Press: BBC's Ashley Blake presents prizes at John Kyrle

This really is a 'Stop Press' item as the event only took place last night. The proper article will follow in the next edition, along with film in the next WNTV of Ashley Blake's address but I have rushed a few photos into this week's issue.

John Kyrle High School held their there Annual Prize Giving on Tuesday evening with prizes being awarded by BBC Television News Presenter, Ashley Blake.

Ryan Green was the recipient of this year's surprise Special Achievements Award, Ryan was described by Head Teacher, Nigel Griffiths as being, 'Polite, hard working and cheerful - an exemplary student of the school'. Well done Ryan!

Two musical recitals took place at the beginning of the evening. The Lower Sixth Ensemble gave a beautiful performance of 'Hallelujah' by Leonard Cohen and Edmund Evans performed George Gershwin Prelude No.1 on piano brilliantly Both will be shown, along with Ashley Blake's address in the next WNTV programme.

Pictured below: Ryan Green is presented with his special award by Ashley Blake, a group of prize winners with Head Teacher, Nigel Griffiths and News Presenter, Ashley Blake, The Lower Sixth Ensemble performing 'Hallelujah and Edmund Evans performing Gershwin's Prelude No. 1.
