TELEVISION NEWS
Presented
by Tina Jones

This
edition of WNTV covers both Christmas and the New Year,
beginning with some scenes from the John Kyrle Prize Giving
(including the address given by BBC News Presenter, Ashley
Blake), Folk at the White Lion, a pantomime, Santa's visit
to Ross Christmas Carnival, Jagged Hands at the Prince,
The Jiveoholics at the White Lion, Christmas Day Lunch for
the elderly, Boxing Day Rugby, The Fab Four's last performance,
New Year's Eve at the Market House and the New Year's Day
Fun Run (though how the words 'fun' and 'run' can go together,
I'll never know).
I
hope you enjoy this week's programme and this issue of Wyenot
News, and that it does not seem too hurriedly thrown together.
We have produced what we can with the odds seemingly stacked
firmly against us over this Christmas period.
BOTH
TINA AND I WISH ALL WYENOT NEWS READERS AND VIEWERS, WHICHEVER
PART OF THE PLANET YOU CALL HOME, A VERY
HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS 2008!

Hundreds
welcome in the New Year at Ross Market . . .
|
|
Hundreds,
possibly thousands of revellers gathered at Ross Market
House on Monday evening to welcome in the New Year. The
crowd was well behaved and as usual, the 'Wyenot News' cameras
were in action capturing the moment, this time with television
as well as the usual stills.
As
always, I was mobbed by people wanting to appear on the
news and have included as many of you as I can. Operating
both TV and stills cameras at the same time proved difficult
in such a crowded place, so I did not take as many stills
as usual.
I
always begin to feel a little despondent with 'Wyenot News'
and life in general as Christmas approaches - it's a dark
nights thing - SAD syndrome but as always, New Year's Eve
makes me realize just how popular Wyenot has become locally.
We had a great time filming and snapping you all. I hope
you all enjoyed yourselves and that the hangovers were not
too severe!
The
New Year's Eve celebrations are also featured in this week's
WNTV
News programme.

.
. . and in the White Lion and the Prince of Wales
|
|
The
White Lion was packed out on New Year's Eve as the pubs
regulars met up for a great party. Some of the guests turned
up in fancy dress. Peter Andre came as Christo Kotze and
Jordan turned up dressed as the lovely Ave. There was no
disguising those assets though, was there Ave? Ricky provided
the entertainment with his disco and landlady, Jacqui and
staff laid on some great food. Jacqui has not been well
during the season and she had already gone to bed by the
time we arrived. We hope you are feeling better now Jacqui.
All in all everybody seemed to be having a great time and
after a quick dance with Ave, we left them to enjoy the
rest of the party whilst we went up to see what was happening
at the Prince of Wales.
Solo artiste, Simon Blight provided the entertainment at
the Prince and it was going down very well. Jay and Amanda
had laid on some lovely food and we met neighbours Jeanette
and Chris. Another quick dance, then it was off to the Market
House to record the vast crowds welcoming in the New Year.
Sorry we couldn't stay for very long Jay, but thank you
for inviting us and we will see you again soon. We just
thought you'd like to know that Andy Margrett will be playing
at The Prince, this coming Saturday, 5th January from 9pm.
The
highlight of my New Year's Eve actually came as I was leaving
the White Lion Inn. As I walked ahead of Tina to the car,
a large otter walked out of the river and sat on the bank
watching me. I have been waiting to film a local otter out
of the water for ages and could see his eyes following me
in the dark, right up to my reaching the car. I opened the
boot quietly to get out the infra red camera but guess what?
As I turned to face him, he ran off before I could get it
fired up.

THE
WYENOT NEWS DEADLINE
|
|
The
absolute deadline for Wyenot News stories and other items
is 12:00, midday on Tuesday, for inclusion in the following
day's edition.
PLEASE
NOTE HOWEVER:
This is an absolute deadline and not the time
I am asking for articles to be sent in. Mondays and Tuesdays
here at 'Wyenot News' are Hell with by far, the most events
I cover occurring at the weekend. The photography that the
public sees happening is only one tiny part of the whole
picture (please excuse the pun) of running this weekly news
publication and the bits of prep that people do not see,
are actually the most time consuming part of getting the
story out.
If
at all possible, please send your story in as early as you
can, rather than wait until the very last minute, so that
I can have at least a fighting chance of getting to bed
before 3:00 am every Tuesday and Wednesday morning after
what has lately become two 18 hour working days on the trot.
Thank
you very much for your understanding and help.
