Special birthday greetings go to Jeff Kendell who celebrated his 65th birthday with a party at The White Lion Inn at Wilton on Saturday. Lots of family and friends turned up to help Jeff celebrate his big day. Local favourite, Nigel Gaudion provided an excellent disco and, as ever the food was terrific.

Why was Viv gobsmacked? you may ask. Because, after years of protesting that he was never going to get married again, Jeff proposed to Viv and after a long, shocked silence, she said YES! Congratulations to you both.

Now, many of Jeff's friends know how to party and none more so than Vic, who, shall we say, took a quick nap during the proceedings? Whilst he was asleep, landlady Jacqui with help, tied every helium filled balloon she could find to Vic's hands, belt loops and anywhere else they could find. He was then ceremoniously coloured in with a blue, permanent marker pen and slept through it all.

We had to leave the party early as we promised to catch Andy M during his performance at The Prince of Wales, but apparently a good time was had by all.

Rob Ashman of the Sea Legs Puppet Theatre travels around schools, theatres, parties, libraries, kids clubs and festivals with his special fairy tale shows. Rob's shows include Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Peter and the Wolf, The Elves and the Shoemaker and Oscar Wilde's 'The Selfish Giant' which he took along to Ross Library on Thursday.

The many children who attended sat spellbound as Rob sang, narrated and expertly manipulated the puppets during his performance of this famous story. After the show the children were given the opportunity to ask Rob questions and take a closer look at his fantastic puppets.
