The John Kyrle High School X Factor Finals
|
|
We have said this before, but we will say it again. There
is a lot of musical talent amongst the pupils of John Kyrle
High School, which became even more apparent at their X
Factor Finals Night on Saturday. Ozzy Osbourne, aka Dave
Chatwin along with 'Sharon' (Mrs. Markye) compered the event
in hilarious fashion, mingling with the audience and getting
up on the stage to dance to The Banned.
Many
of the finalists performed their own, original material
and the standard of all of the performances was fantastic.
The event was put on to raise money for the annual trip
to Kisiki College in Uganda, whom the school sponsors. The
winners of the X Factor Final, Becky and Sean, won a prize
of £100, which was donated by Ross Lions Club. The
event is covered extensively in this week's X
Factor Special WNTV News programme.

Grounded at the Phoenix Theatre on Friday
|
|
At
Y-Zone on 1st March 2007, a group of young people from Ross-on-Wye
and across the county launched their hip hop CD 'Grounded.'
Wyenot News was pleased to cover the story as we knew some
of the young people involved and we included one of the
tracks in the 28th March 2007 edition.(
If you would like to hear the track, the link is on page
four.) The
track is called 'Soldier' and the lyrics were written by
Dale Davidson of Controversial Minds.
This
coming Friday the artistes featured on the CD will be appearing
at the Phoenix Theatre in Ross-on-Wye and will be well worth
going to. The doors open at 7pm and an alcohol free bar
will be operating. There are limited seats available, so
you are advised to get your ticket, costing £3 from
the Music Box in Brookend Street as soon as you can.
The
performers are: The Mirror Kissers, controversial Minds,
The Forgotten, Sunshine Soul Singers, Lady Lyric, Notty
White, MC DJ, Megan Slattery, Ellie Connors and Controversial
Minds Sound System with beat boxing by 2FX, hosted by Soul
Syndicate Sound System.
The
event is organized and sponsored by The Music Pool, Herefordshire
Council Community Youth Service, The Phoenix Theatre, New
Roots Youth Music Action Zones and The music Box.
There
is a lot of talent in this town. Why not go along and find
out for yourself?.
