A sneak preview of Symonds Yat East

Most will have seen the River Wye web cam on the front page of 'Wyenot' which is located at the White Lion Inn. Well there is a second camera in the pipeline for 'Wyenot', located on the roof of Rose Cottage, Symonds Yat East. The feed from the camera is still in the development stages at the moment but it is up and running and I can access it from home. I photographed the water rising at Symonds Yat East from the comfort of my office over the weekend, taking snapshots from the live stream.

As soon as the FTP (techy stuff) is sorted properly, this webcam will be available to the public from the 'Wyenot' front page, in a similar fashion to the Ross one, which is already working (and phenomenally popular).

Heritage Open Days Weekend

Heritage Open Days Weekend is running from Thursday, 11th September to Sunday 14th September inclusive and Mary Sinclair-Powell is delighted that Ross Heritage Centre is to be a part of the event again this year.

On Saturday, 13th, Mary will be leading a guided walk around some of the interesting streets and buildings in Ross which will begin at 2pm promptly. As with all events for the weekend this event is free of charge. If anyone would like to take part in the walk they are asked to meet in the Heritage Centre from 1.45pm, when they can register with a member of staff. The walk will last for approximately 2 hours.

The guided tour has been designed to be accessible for all, with diversions available for anyone with mobility problems that may need them.

Mary regularly arranges these walks and if you cannot make this one but would like to take part at a later time she would be happy to discuss the arrangements required. There are also talks available for any group that feels they would be unable to manage a walk.

For further information telephone 01432 260675 during opening hours or call in between 10am and 5pm daily. If you would like to know more about other events during the weekend there is a leaflet giving all the dates and times in Herefordshire at Ross Heritage Centre and Ross Library.
