This
short film of the local starlings is by way of a test -
running High Definition video on WNTV. If you are using
an older computer or slower internet connection, it would
probably be best to press pause for a while before watching,
to allow the buffer a chance to fill.
I
have changed the streaming file from the footage I shot
on Saturday, 24th January to one made with film shot earlier,
on Thursday, 22nd January. Again, it is not a
final edit, rather it is more a test of the web streaming.
It will play in HD by web comparisons but the file is still
compressed and does not compare to the full HD when seen
on my home TV. If playing full screen, it is best to turn
'scaling off' to reduce the compression effect. You could
also try downloading the HD 'wmv' file from my
page on Vimeo.com (bottom right corner to download)
- this should play in higher quality than the streaming
version, which seems to crack up at the end, probably due
to the conversion stage at Vimeo, and does not show the
end credits. I uploaded the file whilst I was sleeping as
this process takes hours, so it could be that my connection
dropped out during the upload process.
I
spent a lot more time working on this second edit, using
music more suited to the film (generated here using 'Cinescore'
software). I wish I could stream the full HD original that
I can watch here at home as it is stunning but the file
is far too large. All the same, I hope you enjoy! Please
let me know what you think - whether it played properly
and whether you liked the film itself.
Thank
you for taking the time to watch.
Whilst
on the subject of 'Vimeo': if you are into more serious
video streaming, this is the place to be. It's a little
similar to YouTube, but with a plum in its mouth and a butler
(if you know what I mean). There is none of the trashy gaming
or mobile phone video uploads of people doing stupid things
- the type which end up on programmes like 'Rude Tube' -
just the more serious material. If you join as a 'plus'
member, you can stream HD from your own web site. As you
have to pay for this, you can also specify web sites which
are allowed to stream your video. If you are interested,
this
is my vimeo main page.
