The County Air Ambulance Trust has been providing a life saving service to the public since 1993. It costs the trust approximately one million pounds a year to operate their six ambulances, which cover ten counties and an area of over 8,000 square miles. It is astonishing to learn that this vital service receives no financial support from either Government or the NHS and is reliant upon the generosity of the public for donations to keep it running.

In view of this, regulars at the Plough Inn, Overross decided to do their bit to help this essential cause and three months ago, Landlord Del and customer Ron started growing their hair, collecting sponsorship along the way. Finally, the time came for Del and Ron to have their hair shaved off. Lots of people turned up to witness the event, clapping and cheering as the hard grown locks fell to the floor, after which, local man 'Tipper' decided to throw £20 into the bucket and have his head shaved too. A little later, Darren Burns volunteered, boosting the collection further. A raffle was held later in the evening and there were some lovely prizes to be won which were all donated by regular customers. As an added bonus, local band Double Barrel provided a great evening of live music.

On Saturday evening, Mark Wilkins of the County Air Ambulance Trust was invited along to The Plough to be presented with the money raised by this hilarious event and he extremely pleased to be presented with a bucket of cash amounting to £682.84 for the charity. Del and Chris would like to say a big thank you to all of their friends and customers who donated money and to all those who donated prizes for the draw. Well done to all of you.
