Ross Rowing Club, with the support of sponsors and supporters, named six brand new additions to its growing fleet of boats at the annual Presidents lunch on Sunday. These included three new coxed fours, one quad and two more single sculls.

Due to its every increasing popularity in the area, the Club has been steadily developing the available boats to a point where it has trebled the size of the fleet in just four years. This has only been achieved through the incredible support of its commercial sponsors in conjunction with sport England's Sportsmatch initiative. The boats named on Sunday were supported by PGL Adventure Holidays, M&M Ice creams, A.J. Lowther & Sons Ltd, Rocket Training & Development Ltd, and Country House Weddings Ltd, Walford Timber Ltd.

The Club is very proud of its reputation, to provide a platform for these organizations and to support local sport and it is determined to ensure that the boats provided are used for maximum impact. Most of the boat names were chosen to reflect past club members who have contributed so much to the club history, such as Dixie Dean, Fred Kemp, Jane Hall, and Edgar Warren Edwards. EWE as it was known was dedicated by Oliver Bartle who is the great grandson of Edgar and has recently joined the junior Academy. The Peter Gordon Lawrence was named after the founder of PGL Adventure Holidays and the Gosfield Park is one of the family of wedding venues provided by Country House Weddings Ltd.

Club President Jonathon Preece said, 'The Club is a vibrant community with all sections moving forward in a positive and united fashion. We are very pleased to welcome our sponsors, honoured guests, patrons, friends and members to this splendid celebration of Club spirit and success. It is testament to the fondness of the how the club is seen when we have so many guests wishing to share time with us and how well the Club is supported by its members when we can deliver such as successful and warm event.'
