for Heroes is a fast growing charity for British Armed Forces
personnel in the UK and is designed to help in the rehabilitation
of ex-service men and women who suffer from extreme stress
or injury during harrowing tours of duty in countries such
as Afghanistan. The charity aims to help those who have
served and their families settle back into civilian life.
order to help to boost funds towards this great cause, thirteen
fire fighters from Chelsea descended on the riverbank outside
the White Lion Inn, Wilton on Thursday afternoon to carry
out a sponsored canoe trip down the River Wye. This group
of heroes raise a lot of money for charity one way or another
and the latest event was instigated by local man Mick Pollock,
who although living locally, still works as a full time
fire fighter in Chelsea. Mick had a chat with Dave and Jacqui,
landlords of the White Lion, who very generously agreed
to allow the team to camp for two nights free of charge
as the planned event was for a very worthy cause.
the end of their first day, we spoke to fire fighters, Mick
and Ken and landlord Dave for WNTV News about the event
which can be seen below. We hope you've all enjoyed the
experience guys and congratulate you, not only on your charitable
work but also the fantastic work you do every day. You are
all heroes too.
