John Davies enjoyed an excellent year as Mayor of Ross-on-Wye
during the 2008 / 2009 term, but on Monday, 11th May it
was time for him to hand over his Chain of Office to Councillor
John Edwards at the annual Mayor Making ceremony at the
Larruperz Centre. Relatives from the USA and lots of family
and friends attended the event to watch Councillor Edwards
installed as the new Mayor of Ross-on-Wye and John is looking
forward to his role very much.
being robed and chained by Councillor Davies, Mayor Edwards
made his Declaration of Acceptance of Office before announcing
his wife Susan as his chosen Mayoress. Councillor Jo Lane
was elected as Deputy Mayor for this term, whom Mayor Edwards
described as a 'true Rossian.' The Mayor's Cadet for this
term is Wesley Jenkins, whose first job, the Mayor joked,
was to stop people from falling asleep during his speech.
This was unnecessary however, as the Mayor's speech was
focused, relevant and at times very amusing. He congratulated
Councillor John Davies on a successful year and presented
him with his commemorative Mayoral Bar.

for all their hard work before presenting them with flowers.
Councillor Davies' chosen charity throughout his term of
office was Ross MS Support Group and he was pleased to present
a cheque to chairman of the group Gaye Cheeseman.
