The
weather was much kinder than in 2008 for the late May Bank
Holiday, which was great news for Gordon Lucas of Lucas
Motorcycles, as on this particular holiday each year
he hosts a vintage motorcycle display under the canopy of
Ross Market House. Last year the weather was horrendous,
keeping many exhibitors and spectators away. This year however,
although not sunny, the weather was dry and there were some
fifty proud vintage motorcycle owners at the event who were
keen to both show off their own machines and admire those
belonging to others.
Gordon
has been running these exhibitions for approximately twelve
years, beginning with Ross Gala Day, which, as Gordon put
it 'seems to have quietly slipped away,' but the motorcycle
displays have continued, attracting regulars with Triumphs,
Nortons, Harley Davidsons, a Dingo and believe it or not,
this year there was a C5 on display, belonging to local
man Steve Szollosi, who encouraged people to 'sit in and
try it.'
Gordon,
along with Chris of the Gloucestershire Norton Owners Club
and local enthusiast, Steve spoke to us about the event
for WNTV News. Gordon was delighted with the turn out not
only of the motorcyclists, but also the many members of
the public who stopped to take a look.
