This
year marks the 50th anniversary of the launch of the beautiful
Daimler Dart and to celebrate this prestigious car's half
century, local gentleman, Wilf Stephens organized a huge
rally in Ross-on-Wye for the Daimler and Lanchester Owners
Club. On
Sunday morning, approximately 200 magnificent vehicles lined
up on the banks of the river Wye at Long Acre Meadow. Countless
enthusiasts from as far away as Australia attended the weekend
event and many interested members of the public gathered
to witness the spectacle.
A
dinner was held on Saturday evening and it was there that
Wilf spoke to us about the event, which took nine months
to prepare. It was a pleasure to see Councillor Gordon Lucas
and his wife Margaret at the dinner. Gordon had been asked
to speak after the meal as he had a long standing relationship
with BSA and an amusing speech by the son of one of the
chief engineers at Daimler brought much laughter. Everybody
thoroughly enjoyed the whole event.
Congratulations
Wilf on the great success of this event, which did much
for local businesses - we heard that all of the hotels in
town were used by the visitors!
