It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Sheila
Holbrook, who passed away in St. Michael's Hospice on Thursday,
2nd July 2009 after a short but bravely borne illness.
in Halifax, Yorkshire on 8th December 1938, Sheila and her
family moved to Ross-on-Wye in 1972 when her husband, Martyn
went to work for Rank Xerox. Sheila and Martyn enjoyed a
strong marriage and faced many struggles together with Sheila
almost always keeping a cheerful smile of optimism on her
face. Sheila was a lovely lady who adored children and animals.
She doted on her children and grandchildren and while I
worked, she looked after both of my sons who loved her,
as I did.
and Martyn later moved to Madley where sadly, Martyn became
ill and died. Sheila stayed on in the village, where she
had become a valued member of the community. She became
a church warden of St. Mary's and a member of the Parish
Council. Sheila also loved her garden, her dogs and ducks!
leaves behind four children, Viv, Penny, Steve and Caz and
the grandchildren she adored who are all going to miss her
love, her smiles and her ability to make others smile.
funeral will take place at St. Mary's Church, Tyberton,
Madley on Friday, 17th July at 2pm. Sheila loved flowers,
so all floral tributes are welcome. Any donations made will
be divided between St. Michael's Hospice and St. Mary's
will miss you Sheila and our thoughts are with your family
at this very sad time. Rest in peace.
