9th September 2009 SATURDAY AT ROSS-ON-WYE CIDER FESTIVAL 2009

Apart from being able to sample the ciders produced at Ross Cider & Perry Co. on the Saturday of Broome Farm Cider Festival, visitors have the opportunity to meet other cider makers from various quarters, such as Gwatkins, Cidre Dai and many others. In all there were twelve different producers at the festival this year, all happy to talk about their craft as well as make quite a few sales.

There was lots of great live music being performed throughout the day by various musicians including the Firetree band, Dr. Pinhead's Medicine Roadshow, Jim Neale's Fairport Convention tribute band 'Airport Prevention,' and many others. The incredible 'Ragtime Ewan' put on a great performance with his six string piano and terrific sense of humour, but the highlight of the evening was a most outstanding performance given by the amazing Broome Cupboard Blues Band.

The Broome Cupboards, fronted by ace blues harpist Toby Lovell had the dance floor packed from the first number of their energetic and brilliantly executed set. The band comprises some of the best local musicians, namely St.John on bass, Tony on drums, Pete and Tom, who each complement the other's lead guitar playing and Toby, with his raunchy, soul reaching voice and awesome harmonica playing. If you love blues, you'll love the Broome Cupboard Blues Band. The band belted out the blues for over two hours and nobody wanted them to stop.

You can see some of Saturday's entertainment by watching the WNTV video below.
