an article dated 18th August, 'The riverside has become
a car park eyesore' we showed how visitors to the river
bank had been abusing the access which had recently been
provided for vehicles during special events and rallies.
Since that article, I received further reports of people
camping on the bank overnight in camper vans.
seems that this did not go unnoticed and the good news is
that Herefordshire Council and contractors 'Amey' have recently
installed lockable bollards to stop general parking on the
area of beauty. The keys are currently held by Herefordshire
Council for when access becomes necessary for events.
guess that mentioning that we also think the metal swans
are crass and ugly, and that they invalidate the words 'Natural'
and 'Beauty' in the term 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'
was just a little too much to hope for, but this is a giant
leap in the right direction.
