The format of Ross-in-Bloom changed this year in that all those who wished to be judged were required to fill in an entry form and one hundred and fifty people across all the different categories did so. The local judging was completed in July, with the few 'secret' results that are only announced at the Annual Presentation being completed during August. In the past there have been over 800 results but this year has seen a marked decrease, as there were not the number of entries expected. However, all those judged were of a very high standard. Judging marks are adapted from the Britain in Bloom marking system - by percentage. This means every floral display in the town is capable of getting a Gold Award.

The marking system used this year was as follows: ˇ Gold 86% and over ˇ Silver Gilt 76% to 85% ˇ Silver 66% to 75% ˇ Bronze 56% to 65%.

The Ross-in-Bloom results for 2009 can be seen in alphabetical order below the photo >>>

There were a lot of excellent garden displays this year that could have got very high marks if they had been entered for judging. This may be worth thinking about in the future. Think about having a go next year. Also think about having a go with your neighbours for 6 or more properties in your street. There could again have been plenty to chose from this year. Any mistakes and omissions are unintentional and apologies are given if this has happened. The results on the certificates delivered in August are the correct ones. All certificates for the above have been delivered by hand this year to save on postage. This list is also available to view in the Heritage Centre until Christmas.

The list of Community Winners and Surprise Awards will be released after the Presentation Evening on 11th October at the Phoenix Theatre.
