The Ross in Bloom Committee celebrated the end of yet another very successful year with their annual awards ceremony, which was held at the Phoenix Theatre on Sunday evening. After working with the community for the Heart of England in Bloom judging to earn a silver-gilt award for the town, the committee set about the task of judging the skills of local gardeners, who were rewarded for their work at the presentation.

In previous years, the town's gardens were secretly viewed by the judges, who visited every street, road and crescent in Ross, before deciding who the winners were. This, as you can imagine was a very long and tiring process. This year, the format changed and everybody was invited to complete and return an entry form in order to enter the competition. There was still a considerable number of entries and the committee were very pleased with the outcome. Why not enter your garden next year?

Ross in Bloom work tirelessly year in, year out to keep the town of Ross-on-Wye looking beautiful and actively encourage residents of the town to take part in their annual campaigns. The committee are always looking for more volunteers, so if you would like to help with the 2010 campaign, please contact Margaret Lucas of Lucas Motorcycles or Mary Sinclair-Powell at Ross Heritage Centre.
