Ross Town Mayor, Councillor John Edwards was delighted when Dave and Jacqui Newman of the White Lion Inn agreed to hold a fund raising event in aid of his nominated charity, Macmillan Cancer Support on Saturday evening. Macmillan is the favourite charity of White Lion regulars too, so all were looking forward to a good evening's entertainment by local band SILVA, who agreed to perform their great range of covers for less than their usual fee.

Donation buckets were passed around during the event and many gave generously to this fantastic charity who do a tremendous amount of work to help cancer sufferers and their families. After admiring the contents of the buckets, the Mayor was quite taken aback when Jacqui and Dave added the money they and their locals had raised for the charity by way of quizzes, a weekly bonus ball draw, sales of T-shirts and the Macmillan collection box, amongst other ways.

Mayor Edwards and his wife Sue were thrilled to learn that their chosen charity is approximately £840 better off and thanked Dave and Jacqui and all at the White Lion for their tremendous efforts, for which they are truly grateful.
