There
is not a year goes by without at least half a dozen people
asking me to photograph their wedding. I always decline
because photographing weddings is just not me. However,
an invitation to photograph the wedding which took place
at John Kyrle High School on Friday was one I could not
resist accepting.
Harry
Hall and Lillie Collins were going to get married in class
and the Reverend Sarah Jones left her usual St. Mary's Parish
Church to nip along to the school and perform the mock service,
which was exactly like a real one but this time, just a
lesson for the class in the 'Purpose of Marriage'. With
Dan Mace as Best Man and Dannie Ward as Chief Bridesmaid,
Harry and Lillie acted out the ceremony of marriage in front
of their classmates in the first ever mock wedding to take
place at the school.
After
the happy couple were 'married', instead of the usual 'kiss
the bride' bit, Reverend Sarah suggested, 'You can kiss
if you like but you might want to just shake hands or text
one another instead'.
During
the service, passage from the Bible 1 Corinthians 13 was
read, as well as a non biblical blessing and Reverend Sarah
said the prayer, 'What Greater Thing'. Afterwards, the couple
signed the register and the wedding party lined up for all
of the usual photos and the bouquet was thrown into the
crowd before cutting the cake during the reception.
