Some old English traditions should not be forgotten and it was nice to see St George's Day remembered locally. This year the slayer of dragons was present in the riverside garden of the Hope & Anchor. Local knight, Sir Chris Maily of Ross entertained visitors whilst Mike Barnard from Archenfield Archery provided targets and bows for both adults and children to try out their archery skills.

If you enjoy traditional English events, the May Day sunrise festival is always a good event and takes place this coming Saturday by the trees at the summit of May Hill. The sun rises at 5.39 on Mayday but the music, morris and clog dancing usually begins at around 5.30. It is advisable wear something warm and take a hot drink if you go.
